[SURVEY] Reward campaigns: the untapped potential of experiences

Rewards have long been a cornerstone of marketing and sales strategies. However, one crucial element remains underutilized: experiences. Our survey of marketing and sales professionals highlights a surprising trend: although companies have clear retention and acquisition goals, experiences—such as activities or travel—are still rarely featured in reward campaigns.

Résumé de l'article

A 2025 survey of 71 marketing and sales professionals. Key findings include: reward campaign objectives are primarily focused on customer retention (66.1%) and new customer acquisition (51.8%); budgets range from €50 to €500 per recipient; and the most common types of rewards are discounts (26%), physical products (23%), and experiences (9%).

So, why this gap? And how can companies tap into this untapped potential?

Survey background and respondent profile

This survey was conducted among 71 professionals working across various industries. Respondents hold diverse roles, including positions in marketing, communications, sales, and partnerships. The results provide a clear picture of current reward practices in marketing and sales campaigns, while highlighting the barriers and potential levers for better integrating experiences.

‍

Respondent breakdown:

  • Marketing Manager / Marketing Project Manager : 23.3%
  • Marketing Director : 18.3%
  • Sales Manager : 16.7%
  • Channel Partner Manager : 10%
  • Other (freelance, executives, etc.) : 18.3%
  • Communications Manager : 3.3%
Profil des répondants

The business sectors are varied, with a strong representation of companies in the Automotive (8.9%), Energy (8.9%), Electronics (7.1%), as well as in the financial and service sectors. This demonstrates that reward practices cover a wide range of industries, with very different needs depending on the sector.

The importance of rewards: Clear objectives but persistent barriers

Survey results show that the objectives of reward campaigns are primarily focused on customer retention (66.1%) and new customer acquisition (51.8%).

However, only 23.2% of respondents offer experiences as rewards for their customers.

Les types de récompenses offertes aux clients

The same applies to sales incentive campaigns aimed at resellers or distributors.

Les types de récompenses offertes aux partenaires commerciaux

A significant gap that raises the following question: what is preventing companies from integrating more experiences into their campaigns?

‍

The main reasons cited are:

  • Costs are too high (44.6%)
  • Difficulty measuring ROI (42.9%)
  • Complexity of implementation (32.1%)
Les freins perçus

These barriers are real and limit the integration of experiences into loyalty programs. However, 25% of respondents consider experiences an attractive option and have not identified any major obstacles to their implementation.

25% des répondants ne perçoivent aucun frein à l'utilisation d'expériences dans leurs campagnes

At RewardPulse, we understand these challenges. We have designed a platform that makes it easy to integrate experiences into campaigns while providing powerful tools to measure their effectiveness. We thus address the concerns expressed by respondents directly, particularly by simplifying implementation and offering full visibility into ROI.

A desire for experiences, but different priorities

Although few companies currently offer experiences, the majority of those surveyed say they are interested in integrating them into their campaigns if they are affordable and easily measurable. In fact, 73% of respondents say they are ready to explore this option.

73% des répondants seraient prêts à mettre en place des expériences dans leurs campagnes

Another striking figure: 42.9% of respondents highlight the difficulty of measuring the ROI of experiences. This concern aligns with one of the key value propositions of RewardPulse : providing detailed, personalized campaign tracking, allowing companies to prove the impact of every reward.

Our solution makes it possible to link every loyalty action directly to concrete KPIs. By offering centralized reward management, marketing teams can track the impact on customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term revenue, all while maximizing allocated budgets.

The challenge of loyalty and customer budget management

Loyalty remains a major objective for 66.1% of respondents, but it is often accompanied by a lack of a clear vision regarding the allocated budget. In fact, 75% of respondents do not yet measure Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), which may partly explain the hesitation to allocate a specific budget to loyalty programs.

75% des entreprises des répondants ne mesurent pas la customer lifetime value

Regarding loyalty budgets, the majority of respondents mentioned amounts ranging between €50 and €500, but without any real consistency. It is interesting to note that 17.9% of respondents do not know what budget to allocate to loyalty, which highlights the uncertainty that exists in the management of these programs.

With RewardPulse, companies can track the long-term value of each customer using advanced analytical tools. This not only allows for budget optimization but also enables the adjustment of reward strategies in real time, in order to improve CLV and maximize return on investment.

An opportunity to seize

The survey results reveal a genuine desire to evolve reward practices. However, for experiences to fully take their place, companies must be equipped with simple, transparent, and effective solutions.

With RewardPulse, it is now possible to meet these challenges with complete peace of mind. Our platform allows you to integrate attractive experiences at a lower cost, precisely measure the impact of each reward, and maximize campaign ROI. It is time to rethink the approach to marketing rewards and fully exploit the potential of experiences.
